Here is Dolores's latest painting. Laine asked her to paint it from a photo of her favorite spot in Boise. Laine has the perfect place in her home to hang this treasure.
Congratulations, Sr. Margaret Diener ’70 for winning the Sister M. Patricia Lyons Distinguished Alumni Award! Thank you for your outstanding service and dedication to Dominican.
"I'm honored to receive the Sister Patricia Lyons award. Sr. Patricia was a beloved mentor and friend. Her dedication to and leadership in fostering the alumni association laid the groundwork for its growth and fruitfulness. I was pleased when she asked me to follow her as the sister representative on the association board. I am delighted with this recognition, for my commitment to the transformative power of education and service I received as a student has never wavered.
With gratitude, I think of the support and active engagement of my fellow alums that were important to me as a faculty member and now as a university board member. That same support, benefaction and engagement continues to be critical in the university's future. Our collective efforts are more needed than ever to see that Dominican University continues to provide the same life changing opportunities for students today. We know the treasure we have received. With pride let us share it!" - Sr. Margaret Diener '70
Mary Belle Wilson Irwin is Nona's great-grandmother (March 22, 1836 - June 14, 1913).
In 1876, Mary Belle helped with preparations for her much younger sister's wedding. They used this beautiful Tea Leaf pattern china for the big day celebration. Dolores now has the plate, but Melissa has said she would like to receive it in the future.

Mary Belle is Melissa's great-great-great-great-grandmother
High up in the rafters of one of Dolores's barns are two baby Great Horned Owls. The soft white downy feathers around the face show that they were born in the last few months in their huge nest.
The Great Horned Owls are nocturnal and useful for rodent control on the farm.

Even though the above Great Horned Owls are living in a barn, they are quite different than Barn Owls. See photo below.
