PLF was against bigotry

From Nona's book, "Green Shamrocks to Golden Poppies," p. 86:
"Peter L Ferry was against bigotry of all kinds. Around 1924, there was a Ku Klux Klan parade in Glendale, CA. This angered my father. The KKK not only hated black people, they had an aversion toward Jews and especially Catholics. At this time, many people still considered Irish/American Catholics (our family) as second-class citizens.
"Dad took us children to witness the parade, he said that he wanted the despicable biased men in the parade to see him and his family looking disapprovingly at them. We all went to the parade and glared at the men wearing long white robes with white hoods over their heads to conceal their identities. Dad said that he recognized some of the men by the footgear they were wearing."
