Permanent Wave Machine

This photo is from the Internet. People unknown. (Circa 1920s)
From Nona's book, "Green Shamrocks to Golden Poppies," page 83:
"During many summers our family rented an apartment at the beach (Balboa Island). Once we saw a woman sitting in a store window with a big machine gadget over her head. Wires, that dangled from the machine, were attached to the lady's head (scary enough to curl your hair!). An electrocution? No!! The new permanent wave machine was just being demonstrated."
