Traveling Hwy 99 in 1930

June 1, 1930
L to R: Bill, Mother Ferry, Frank, Mary Alice, and a neighbor boy on the occasion of Frank's departure from Glendale for his new ranching position in Five Points.

Frank would return to Glendale every two weeks on the weekends. God provided traveling mercies for the long journey. One night Frank was driving back to the ranch along Highway 99. He was just coming off the Grapevine when he spotted an accident ahead; he slammed on the brakes of his loaded pickup. The vehicle flipped over, and thankfully, like a cat landing on its feet, it came back to rest on its wheels! Coolly and calmly, Frank and his acrobatic truck kept heading north as though nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.

Replica of a similar 1930s pickup truck found online.
