Brother Timothy (Part 1)

1936
Brother Timothy, Grandpa T. Edward Diener, Joe, Grandma Mary Agatha Diener, Vince, Sister Edward, and Papa Frank.
Brother Timothy, Papa Franks younger brother, attended Cathedral Catholic High School, run by the Christian Brothers, in Los Angeles. His mother, Mary Agatha Blatz Diener (also know as Mame or Grandma Diener), became an early member of the Mothers’ Club. Grandma Diener would obtain unblessed wine from the Christian Brothers, and would sell it to her family or friends and then give the money to the school. It is amusing that Grandma Diener “did a little bootlegging.” This was during the Prohibition Era (1920-1933) – the Christian Brothers were allowed to make and sell wine for sacramental purposes.
