I was just elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences (founded by Benjamin Franklin).
The Academy did not notify me--I found out from a press release.
The reason I am relaying this news is because of the other very fun people who were also
elected this year, including:
Hilary Clinton (sorry about this)
Mel Brooks (can't get more fun than that)
Clint Eastwood (can't get more masculine than that)
Paul McCartney (can't get too much more famous than that)
Andre Previn and Neil Simon
and then of course someone who nobody has ever heard of--me.
Carol and I will attend the induction just in the hopes that one of the famous folks might show up--
my guess is that most of them skip it.
They apparently elect people from the sciences (mostly nonfamous to the public of course)
and then people from the arts, including music and film
WOW! Congratulations!! That's sounds wonderful ---- and maybe a little more fun. Be sure to report on the event!
