9/11 Memorial

The 9/11 Memorial (also known as the Tear of Grief and the Tear Drop Memorial) sits directly across from NYC, in Bayonne New Jersey, just the other side of the Statue of Liberty. This absolutely beautiful, 100 ft. tall monument was gifted to the people of the United States by the people of Russia in 2006, in memory of all those who lost their lives on that fateful day, September 11, 2001.
The breaking in the cracked facade forms the shape of the two towers. The giant suspended tear drop signifies the tears of the entire world that day.

I am taking a break from the blog for a bit until I can get Steve's estate taken care of. When things settle down, I hope to get back to blogging.

It is with sadness I tell you that my husband, Steve Warchol, passed away on May 29. He had struggled with throat cancer for the last eight months, and is now pain free in heaven.

SpaceX Rocket Launch

SpaceX’s Demo-2 mission will attempt to launch its first crewed mission for NASA today, Saturday, May 30, at 12:22 p.m. PDT.
Demo-2 marks the first launch of NASA astronauts on a commercial spacecraft and the first launch of American astronauts into orbit on a U.S.-built vehicle from America since 2011. The weather forecast calls for a 60% chance of good launch conditions.
The mission will blast off in Florida from Kennedy Space Center. Two veteran NASA astronauts, Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley, will be tucked inside the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule. Launch will begin a 19-hour journey to the International Space Station, where the astronauts will spend between one and four months living and working.

Kennecott Copper Mine is an open-pit mining operation extracting a large porphyry copper deposit southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah in the Oquirrh Mountains. The mine is the largest man-made excavation in the world and is considered to have produced more copper than any other mine in history – more than 19 million tons.
